One of the most amazing opportunities that came across my table while in Milan was the opportunity to see a presentation by Brooks Brothers for Thom Browne's Black Fleece line. Their first time presenting during Milan Fashion Week was unparalleled thanks to the unique ability to get up-close and personal with each item--and unlike a museum, the pieces were actually touchable! And thanks to the folks at GQ, Ive got photographic evidence of it's transcendence. Since it's launch back in fall 2007, Brook Brothers has gone into the hands of the Italians, and their take on the Americana prep style is evidently influencing Browne in a positive way. And despite previous reservations about the line [plus initially highly-expensive price points], the collection has developed into something worth noting and being proud of. From the hefty wingtips and Capitol-Hill-ready nostalgic bow ties to the quality driven wool and cotton suits, knits, and color scheme; its a great exemplar of how classic Americana has remained relevant, even still, in a modern society. If you questioned Browne's patriotism before, all speculation should be put to rest with the Black Fleece Fall 2010 collection.

Great post, but one small quibble. The Italians (Claudio del Vecchio by way of Retail Brand Alliance) actually bought Brooks Brothers in 2001.

Nice job Thom Browne! This line keeps getting better and better. I especially like the grey monochromatic look and the look of the third picture....very rakish.

Thom Browne pulled all the strings out with this one. I love the last coat.
