For this week's Style Question, I look to DC lobbyist, JMatthews, for his dilemma on how to break into the spring season in an affordable and not-so-drastic manner. And his question goes something like this:
"Ive been trying to put off updating my wardrobe for as long as possible. I'm just one of those guys who enjoys the colder seasons as opposed to the warmer ones--I'm from Minnesota. But since February is coming to an end and the month of March is where spring really gets it's start, I think it's time that I finally accept that spring is on its way. Can I do that in a way that isn't so drastic and doesn't require buying an entirely new set of clothes?
JMatthews is correct on one front; the spring season is hot on our tails and the slightly warmer weather that we have been getting in DC makes this ever apparent. And in any case, adapting your wardrobe to a new season doesn't ever have to mean an entirely new wardrobe, rather an adaptation of your accessories. . .and for this we look to Pierrepont Hicks.

Their Spring 2010 collection is everything that the spring and summer months call for: color, color, and more color. Along with the snow, you should bare farewell to the dark and dreary accessories that are common and appropriate during the winter. Swap them for a wardrobe of bowties and ties to accompany staples that you should already have in your closet--staples like seersuckers, chinos, khakis, light linen suits, featherweight and spring appropriate shirts, and even the sporadic madras pattern. Pierrepont Hicks neckwear for the spring season will add an instant boost of excitement and youthfulness to the stuffiness of K Street and your lobbying firm.

With designs that bare names such as tousled, ruffled, sunburned, and windswept, they are in essence what you would expect for spring. And affordability comes into play with the bowties, that are two-in-one; they feature dual designs on each side which also makes them more aesthetically pleasing. Not available until next week, if I were you I would head to Pierrepont Hicks now and start editing out those which I like. . .the decision will be harder than you could imagine. And with that, JMatthews, you've got your answer!

I only like these because of their dual design, which allows you to not have to use the dramatic pattern.
the soft cotton material looks nice. and the clashing patterns are great.
I love your blog and really like this post. I'd imagine these would look great with seersucker and their color is perfect. Great site!
