Lapel pins are one of those truly underestimated accessories that most men do not even entertain. What a shame, right? Wrong. Because fast forward to DC and lapel pins are not only of abundance, but are quite functional as well. Frequently used as a symbol of achievement, belonging, affiliation, or patriotism; although Washingtonians seem to find use with them, they lack that certain coolness or uniqueness that accessories are all about. And I'm all for fashion retaining it's functionality, but at the expense of sartorial creativity for homogeneity? That is where Derrick Cruz of Black Sheep & Prodigal Sons comes into handy.

Derrick Cruz has worked with the creative team at Bblessing for set of lapel pins that are unlike your usual American flag or Congressional lapel pins that seem oh-too-common in the District. Their inspiration alone is mind-boggling:
"Each pin has a symbol on it that represents the original seven planets from the Ptolemaic worldview [which include the Sun and the Moon].
Finished in quality bronze for authenticity, I'd much rather see more of these and less of the American Flag on those lapels. I mean really, you work and live in DC--who can question your patriotism? Your sartorial-ism, however, is up in the air.
Available via Bblessing.
